Artist: Alex Moran
Title: Jama Gymnastics
f4003

Stomping drums, a little wah-wah guitar and off-kilter keys announce the return of f4music and this quirky, jacking gem from Alex Moran. ‘Gymnastics’ jumps from the get-go, steeped in Basement Jaxx style weirdness and classic stepping house basslines. Jumpy vocal samples reverberate around the mix, giving the whole tune an upbeat, funhouse atmosphere.

Things straighten out a little for the dub on the flip, but not by much. Rubbery basslines propel the tune while the keys and vocals are pared back to give the tune a later night feel. There’s no denying the party-rockin’ nature of this tune though, this is a tune to keep a rock a packed dancefloor ‘til it’s legless.

This is F4’s third release this year, following (albeit in a strange way) on from great tunes from Buck and Tony Senghore. As always, we aim to please with something a little different but still classy in a year packed to the rafters with aimless house tunes.
